How does Laser Coring Work? Laser Coring works by removing tiny columns of tissue with heat ablation, effectively reducing the specific surface areas of skin tissue while heating surrounding tissue and stimulating collagen. The ablated thermal cores gradually contract by a process of wound healing, reducing redundant skin and leading to wound contracture. While this is not surgical removal of skin, it is the only non surgical modality that reduces skin laxity while also improving skin quality and texture.

What Is the Recommended Treatment Course for Laser Coring™ ? We recommend a series of 2 treatments spaced three months apart, with a monthly skin treatment in between to improve skin repair. This is offered as a package. A third treatment may be considered for those with severe concerns. Results can be maintained with a 3D Miracle treatment every 3- 4 months, and annual Ultraclear maintenance treatment, with Coring added to areas of concern.

What Can I expect from the Laser Coring Procedure? Laser Coring is an advanced, doctor only medical procedure.  At your initial consultation, Dr Grant will customise a treatment plan and discuss measures to ensure you are comfortable during the procedure, including a prescription for a sedative or strong pain killer- in this case do not drive to your appointment.  A compounded local anaesthetic will be applied to the skin 60 minutes before the treatment. Most of our patients find the procedure comfortable, with average pain score 4/10.  The procedure will take 1- 2 hours depending on your treatment plan. After the procedure we will use cool air and saline soaks to cool the skin. Additional areas such as the neck, décolletage, and hands can be added to your treatment or performed over time after your face heals. We offer a complimentary course of 6 Healite treatments to use for the 2 weeks post laser to improve healing time and reduce redness,  it’s also a good opportunity for you to check in with our team for reassurance.

What is the Downtime for a Laser Coring ? Despite the fact Laser Coring is so advanced, it is generally tolerated very well, with the ablated cores settling in the first 5 days after a face treatment. Expect redness, swelling, crusted skin, and discomfort for the first 5 days. During this period, there is a risk of infection, so you must be diligent with hygiene and post-care. After this time, small bumps are present at the treatment site which may last up to 12 weeks. The bumps will last longer on thinner skin, if the body is treated Ithe neck, decolletage , arms, abdomen etc) and in older patients or patients with an impaired immune system. The skin will remain red, dry, and sensitive for a few weeks. Makeup , SPF, moisturser and concealers can be applied after the skin has exfoliated.

Cost of Laser Coring Laser Coring is a doctor only treatment. At your initial consultation with Dr Grant will assess your concerns and provide an individualised treatment plan and quote.  Suitability for treatment and costs will be discussed during your consultation. 

Multimodal Treatments Laser Coring works well in a long term plan to strengthen skin, starting with exfoliating treatments such as the Hydrafacial, Biorevive Peel, and Laser Genesis for skin repair. Procedures to enhance skin repair and scaring as Exosomes or PRP can be done in the same session to reduce downtime, and enhance clinical results. Rejuran is often added in for acne scarring. Dr Grant will provide you with different options during a consultation.
