Want some extra skin glow? Home peels are your answer.
Now that life is getting somewhat back to normal, your skincare routine might be in need of a little shake up. That's where home peels come in.
You should consider home peels if:
your skin is looking dull and you’d like extra glow
you’ve got the basics down pat and want to get your skin to the next level
you have an event coming up and you want to brighten your skin
You have oily, congested skin or blackheads, and want better oil control
you are planning a collagen induction or heat based treatment, and want to prepare your skin to perform
A suitable home peeling regime will give your old products new life by exfoliating the upper layers of the skin, allowing active ingredients to penetrate more easily without a build-up of cells in the way.
What exactly is a home peel?
Home peels are products that are used anywhere from 1-3 times a week, and are designed to exfoliate, brighten and improve the vibrancy of skin. They’re a step above your daily exfoliation needs, for those times when you need extra skin rejuvenation benefits.
Which one should I use?
When choosing a home peel, there's not a one size fits most approach. It’s a great idea to book a consultation with your Dermal Clinician who can guide you in which one is right for you. Choosing the wrong peel can cause redness, irritation and swelling- this is definitely NOT what you want! We’ve curated the top performers to offer a selection that can cater for all skin needs, including oily, delicate and sensitive skins, as well as for those who are breast feeding or pregnant. You can discuss this with us in clinic or check them out on our online shop, which is constantly evolving.
Amanda’s top tips for home peels:
If your skin is on the sensitive or reactive side, opt for Aspect Dr Lanaenzyme Micro Peel. This home peel uses fruit enzymes, lanablue, and pumpkin ferment extract, all working together synergistically to exfoliate lifeless skin cells and smooth skin texture, revealing a more radiant complexion. It's a great one also for those pregnant or breastfeeding and so need a retinol-mimicking action without the Vitamin A. This home peel feels like a fruity gomage, where you'll lightly massage it and with a balling action the product will gently exfoliate. We recommend this to our clients with sensitive, red, rosacea prone skin. It can also be used when pregnant or breast feeding, or on thin mature skin. This peel is a real treat for the skin and suits those who love a self care ritual.
Dr Grant’s top tips for home peels:
For those with oily, thick skin, and advanced skincare clients already on a medical grade home care routine, consider using the SkinBetter Science AlphaRet Exfoliating Peel Pads. This product offers clinical grade exfoliation, containing a triple-acid formulation of Lactic Acid, Glycolic Acid and Salicylic Acid. It also contains the patented AlphaRet complex that sets SkinBetter apart from standard skin products- this boosts exfoliation and glow, without causing sensitivity. This novel product is delivered in a box of 30 peel pads, which you should use 1- 3 times a week depending on your skins resilience and needs. Please note: start weekly and then increase to a maximum of 3 x a week. These peel pads are a medical grade, active product and can cause dryness and irritation if you overuse or if they are not suitable for your skin the skin. It is suitable for busy people who want less fuss. Please note - his product is not suitable for pregnant and breast feeding women and can only be prescribed after a consultation as it is a medical product. Please ask us about them in clinic!
