What are Monothreads?

In the ever-evolving world of aesthetics, we are constantly seeking innovative and effective treatments to help our clients achieve healthy and radiant skin without resorting to invasive procedures. One such technique that has been garnering attention is PDO monothread treatments. This involves inserting hairthin, Polydioxanone (PDO) sutures into skin, which can help to strengthen, tighten and support the skin through stimulating collagen formation, providing results without the need for surgery or visible scarring.

PDO threads share the same material as absorbable surgical sutures, which have been widely used in medicine for numerous years

How does the PDO Monothread procedure work?
After gently injecting multiple threads into the skin, a supportive mesh is created, encouraging the growth of new collagen. Over the course of approximately three months, the PDO threads gradually dissolve, while the collagen mesh continues to work beneath the surface.

What is the outcome of the PDO Monothread treatment? The increase in collagen will improve the quality of skin, resulting in inprovements in skin texture, and strnegth. Thin, crepey skin will be more resilient and this can improve laxity.

Are PDO Monothreads the same as lifting threads?

No. While they do stimulate collagen production and provide some rejuvenating effects, they are not intended for dramatic lifting purposes. PDO monothreads are suited to patient with I mild to moderate skin laxity or those with thinner skin who seek to proactively combat the signs of ageing without undergoing surgical or injectable treatments. We also find them effective for improving set lines in the face, or neck where dermal fillers may nit be suitable due to medical risk.

Are PDO Threads for everyone?

It's essential to be aware that PDO monothreads may not be as effective on sun-damaged skin due to pre-existing damage to the structural proteins within the skin. They will also be less effective if you have poor lifestyle habits such as a diet lacking in protein or antioxidants, if you smoke, or drink excessive alcohol

However, for those with sagging and laxity in areas like the lower third of the face (cheeks), jawline, under the chin, and neck, PDO monothreads can be be a useful and relatively quick intervention to improve skin quality, especially when combined with medical grade home care and good lifestyle.

Is there any downtime with PDO Mono Threads?

Bruising , redness and swelling should be expected after treatment. Most individuals can resume their daily activities shortly after the procedure, making it an ideal option for those with busy schedules or those who prefer a swift recovery. Wearing a mask or clinical grade post procedure makeup post treatment may help to cover any bruising- we recommend Oxygenitix.

As with any cosmetic procedure, it is crucial to consult a qualified and experienced practitioner who can assess your unique needs and advise you on whether PDO monothreads are the right fit for you. They will also guide you through the post-treatment care, ensuring optimal results and the utmost satisfaction.

PDO monothreads represent a simple and customisable option for those seeking to avoid synthetic injectable treatments like botox and fillers, for difficult areas where these treatments are not suitable, or to prolomg the life of injectable treatments.

By providing support for collagen formation, these ultra-fine sutures tighten and lift the skin, improving skin quality and texture

If you are looking to address mild to moderate skin laxity or wish to proactively prevent signs of ageing without resorting to surgery, PDO mono threads might be the solution for you.
