The Spectra XT™ laser is a next generation Q switch device offering a diverse range of treatments addressing the full spectrum of skin concerns including pigmentation, pores, fine lines, inflammation and the famous Hollywood Laser Peel.

What Does a Q switch laser do? The Spectra laser allows our clinicians to address multiple issues in one treatment, giving us the capacity to customise a unique treatment for you. It is a versatile device, and can be used for low downtime, gentle skin toning and melasma treatments, to removing brown spots, freckles and ablating pigmented “age warts” and removing tattoos.

The device has customised handpieces allowing safer treatments for those with darker skin types, and a specific handpiece for collagen induction which is used to reduce pore size and improve skin quality for no downtime age management.

Low energy Q switch laser AKA “skin toning” treatments feel very comfortable- like tiny warm prickles in the skin. These settings do not have significant downtime- mild redness and bright skin are the norm. Patients who suffer from acne may get a breakout after the first few treatments- this is part of the process of improving your skin function.

Clinical Pigmentation Treatments are not beauty treatments- they have risks and associated down time. If we choose to treat pigmentation (freckles, solar lentigenes, seborrhoeic keratosis etc), expect redness for 1 - 3 days, a darkening of pigmentation or mild wound formation. Downtime may last for 5 –7 days on the face, or 10 – 12 days on the body. hen surface pigment will appear darker before sloughing off. In some cases e.g. large pigmented lesions, skin may take 2- 3 weeks to heal. Factor this into your social plans and do not pick the skin.

Downtime / Aftercare
Do not book for NDYag laser if you have had a recent spray tan, suntan or sunburn. Please see our aftercare advice sheet.

If you have acne or oily skin, you may experience a breakout for the first 2 treatments- plan accordingly. However NDYag lasers are one of the best treatments to manage acne and acne scarring, reduce pore size and manage oily skin.

Darker skin types may need to prepare the skin for 4-6 weeks before treatments. We do this for safety reasons and there are no exceptions.

Recommended Plan
We recommend a 12 week Skin Programme to manage initial concerns, followed by a monthly maintenance treatment
